Kashan Rug

Kashan

Floral in design, with reds and navy blues. Often come with central medallions and all-over designs (no medallion).

Modern

Modern styled rugs with various patterns and colours not traditionally defined as Persian.

Heriz

Often have a centre that features a large right-angled medallion, and usually has marked corners. They are really geometric in design.

Nain

Mostly floral in design. A wonderful colour palette of ivory, navy blues, light blues and pinks.

Ghabeh

They are the most plain and simple of all Persian rugs, with little to no pattern.

Tabriz

Usually Tabriz designs have a central medallion that is surrounded by arabesques, and other floral & garden inspired patterns

Afghan

Traditionally knotted in the colours of the red spectrum. Patterns and designs are dominated by an octagonal row pattern – and stars, which are also octagonal.

Ziglar

Most Zieglers express subtle and soft shades of ivory or beige paired with darker background colors such as red, blue, yellow and brown to compliment the finely weaved designs on the carpets.

Mori

Mori Rugs often feature geometric patterns mainly knotted in red or dark red.

Bokhara

Bokhara rugs are usually defined by their symmetrical patterns adorning the rug with diamond-shaped or oval motifs that repeat.

Turkman

Turkman rugs are very distinctive dominated with dark reds and repeated blue or black and ivory ‘gul’ print motifs.

Klardasht

The motifs on these carpets normally consists of a hexagon surrounded by white primitive lines and sometimes even a scarab in the middle.

Mashad

Dominating colours are dark red, blue and khaki. Floral patterns usually frame a central medallion of these carpets, which are often knotted in large sizes.

Kerman

The ground colour is often red, and the pattern is dominated by a centrally placed medallion together with a wide border filled with flowers.

Azerbaijani

Main colours used in Azerbaijani carpets are red, blue, green, yellow and cream.

Moud

The carpets from Moud often have a Herati pattern , with or without a centrally placed medallion. They are sometimes divided into Moud Mahi and Moud Garden.

Hamadan

The patterns are very varying and the medallion as well as carpets with repeated patterns occur. The colours are dominated by different nuances of indigo blue and madder red.
